Three masked men broke into a home near Moravia's high school at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday night and came away with $160,000 and jewelry. When police approached, the getaway driver abandoned his colleagues and led police in a car chase.
When police trapped the car, they found $60,000 and about $10,000 in jewelry inside, plus ski masks, gloves and tools. The three others escaped, presumably with the rest of the cash.
The home, reported the newspaper La Nacion, is owned by an Oriental lady named Shi.
The policemen investigating the Shi home invasion had more luck than two policemen who stopped a suspicious car last Friday. The four men in the car got the drop on the cops, handcuffed them at gunpoint and took their service pistols.
This kind of thing has occurred before. The Security Ministry just hates it when that happens!
