Intel to Train 300 Engineers

Some 300 engineers and technicians gathered at the Engineering Development Center in Ribera de Heredia to design and validate both software and hardware. It is the largest group to be trained by Intel.

The technicians were divided into seven teams in order to cut down the risk of error creeping through to the customer. The opening of the center cost $8 million.

Intel opened its operations here in 1998 with a test of the assembly procedures before going on into payroll and other financial services. Intel calculates that the rigorous testing has saved the company more than $87 million.
